I'm so sorry, OP. We recently put our dog down and DH and I still get sad about it. It's hard.

I'm so sorry. It's the only relationship on earth where you have the power of life or death in your hands, and it's so tough to be put in that position. Have compassion on yourself, know you are making the decision out of love, have faith that your pet will be in a better place (one without pain and the difficulties of aging) and trust that your heart will heal over time.
