when to do pregnancy test

Anonymous
I have irregular 30-40 days cycle, and I ttc on ovulation day (with positive opk). I have been feeling bloating, gassy, some cramp on private parts, and feels like hungry all the time. I know it could all be psychological & mean nothing, but I wonder how early can I do the pregnancy test? It has been more than 1 week since I ttc, is it good timing yet?

Wait two weeks from positive OPK.
Are you confirming ovulation by temperature, or just going off of the positive OPK? OPK detects LH surge, but doesn't actually confirm ovulation. Only checking temperature daily can do that.
I highly recommend reading "Taking Charge of Your Fertility", particularly considering the fact that you have irregular cycles.

Agree with above. I'd count the day after a positive OPK as ovulation day, then would wait at least 10 days from then (10DPO), preferably 12DPO. So if you got a positive OPK on the 15th, take an early response test on the 28th or so.

I would wait another three days.

10 days from positive OPK with a FRER should come up positive.

The part of your cycle that really varies is when you ovulate. So if you ovulate on day 7 one month and day 14 the next month, you still wait two weeks from then before thinking you are late for your period.

So wait for at least 12 days after you ovulate, no matter your cycle length.
