What are the criteria for a DoE "Blue Ribbon School"?

If you're interested in any of the private schools on this list (or that were Blue Ribbon schools in prior years), you can go to the Department of Education website and view their application for blue ribbon status. There you will see standardized test scores over a range of grades and years--something you usually cannot see for a private school.

Many schools don't apply at all.

Could you please post a link to where that data is located on DOE website? I could not find it. Sorry to be so dense.

According to the Post:

The award goes to public schools in the top 10 percent of academic performance in their state -- private schools are judged by a national exam -- and to schools where at least 40 percent of the students are from disadvantaged backgrounds and demonstrate dramatic improvement.

So, many schools will not qualify, but bravo to the ones who qualify and won the award!

Here's the link to the applications. You have to read each school's application individually, the data is not collected anywhere.

I believe if you just change the year in the URL you will get prior years' Blue Ribbon schools' applications. (To be clear, these are the applications of the successful schools, not all applications for all schools.)
