7 year old yellow lab. It is rather weird. I have two daughters who are 16 and 13 and who have recently started to have more coed gatherings (maybe 10-15) at our house. When my daughters have just their female friends over, my dog is his normal, chill self and pays little mind to the guests. When there’s boys over, he’s such a little troublemaker. Running around, stealing food, always has to have his nose in the action. It’s like he’s trying to show off in front of these boys, lol...like, hey, I’m a big dog too.
Yes, its the smell of testosterone, to put it bluntly.
Yep. I've got teenage boys and the dogs definitely get "energized" when they get home...
Really? Wow.
that's hilarious.
Maybe he's protecting the girls.
He's seeking the attention of the other males, specifically the alfa male. Male dogs observe and make a determination of who in the room is the alfa male. Our male dog would then go and sit on their feet. Often the largest, strongest or oldest male. Or loudest. It was always interesting to see who the dog thought was the alfa.
My lab also loves boys!!! (He loves girls too, don't get me wrong but he's amped for the boys).
Wow this is enlightening! DS is 11 and starting to have that smell. Wonder if our male boxer will notice. I’m the alpha in the house (mom)- hope I’m not replaced!!!
