Lab School

We applied for our DS in early January and have not anything from school. Anyone know when they will be scheduling visits? We have heard from the schools we applied to and Lab is our first choice so I am a little anxious.

Lab seems to be on the same schedule as typical DC private schools, with applications being due on the 15th (last week). I think some of the other SN schools have rolling admissions, which may explain why you already heard from them. Good luck!

You applied in early January--you mean like 2 weeks ago?

If memory serves, we started hearing back from schools in March. They get a lot of applications. Pace yourself.

I just applied to a few special needs schools in our area as well (including Lab), and received their acknowledgement of application email letting me know that they will contact me in the next coming weeks with more information regarding the next stages of the application process. I feel your anxiety!!!!!!

We’ve applied to a couple of schools - radio silence. How quickly did others get some sort of communication from the schools you applied to?

Most schools contact you in feb to schedule an interview/class visit/playdate if they have one (depending on your child’s age). I think we had visits/ school observations in February/early March and got our acceptance letters by Mid-late March?

Did you get that email from Lab? I’ve gotten nothing from them.

I received their confirmation email right after I hit sent. Check your emails / spam on the day you sent in your application. Mine is time stamped on the day I applied.

I mailed all of our applications and have heard nothing. A quick question about Lab. We have applied to several SN schools in the area, and most of them cost about $10k less. Is Lab that much better, or is there some other justification for the difference in cost?

Differences in facilities and staff/ teacher salaries generally accounts for the difference. You can look up any of their 990s and get a sense of their finances.
