| I'm the poster looking for Great Dane breeders. Lately, I cannot get this idea out of my head. I MUST get a Great Dane puppy! What is it?! There must be something behind this? I have kids in elementary school (we're done with childbearing-- I don't want more kids). I have a great job, things at home are going well, and.....I have a 12 year old dog already! He is healthy and peppy, so it's not like he's about to die or anything. Why do I want a puppy!? And why am I fixated on a giant dog!? Am I trying to destruct/sabotage the first moment of relative calm/things going well!? What the heck!??! |
| IDK but they are huge, slobbery, and average lifespan is only 8 years. |
| Maybe you want to pick up gigantic poops? Because gigantic dogs do make gigantic poops you know... |

It's quite common, and it's akin to wanting a baby.
This was me a year ago. Done with kids and youngest in elementary, plus I was recuperating from the effects of surgery for a newly diagnosed chronic disease... and suddenly I REALLY REALLY needed a puppy. It took me a year to persuade my husband and find a reputable breeder. The dog is both a surrogate baby and a therapeutic tool for my disease. A male friend of mine had a rough time a few years ago, and the same thing happened - as soon as he emerged, he got himself a young dog. His one and only child was in elementary as well. And around the school yard, it never fails: as soon as the youngest is old enough, families get puppies left and right. |
Haha. This is definitely me. When my youngest was in first I got the puppy bug. He is a great dog and I am glad he joined us but I am sure it was because we no longer had a little one. |
| I too had puppy fever when kids were slightly older and when we were done having kids. Finally got my puppy after convincing my husband. Best decision ever- everyone loves him. |
