Key vs. Hyde

Anonymous
We are moving in from out of town. We are looking at Hyde or Key. Does anyone have any info about the schools and/or the differences? Any information would be very appreciated.

Key all the way.

(I am not a parent at either school.)

No-one who actually lives in Georgetown/Palisades would consider this a serious question.

Key.

My kid is at Murch but I would also choose Key over Hyde. We have friends who are happy at both but Key has better test scores and I think a more neighborhood feel. Good luck with the move.

Another thing to look at are middle school feeder patterns. I believe that both Key and Hyde feed to Hardy for middle, then Wilson for high. Depending on how long you want to use DCPS, you might consider a school that feeds to Deal for middle. Schools like Janney, Murch, Lafayette.

There have been recent threads on middle school options, and Murch that you might read for some info.

Key has a rep as a great school, where the majority of kids go on to private middle/high.

We loved Hyde and actually picked it over Key. Hyde is smaller, more diverse and located in the heart of Georgetown. The principal has assembled a strong team of teachers. We have noticed more of our Georgetown neighbors are opting to send their children to Hyde and we have a great group of active parents. The building next to Hyde was recently renovated and incorporated into Hyde's space and the playground and hardscape were renovated too. It looks fantastic. You should take a look.
