McConnell now offering time for vote by 12 Noon Monday

Anonymous
Schumer agreed...Flake now folding.

So, it looks like a CR until February 8th. Then a floor debate on immigration and ‘other’ issues. Adjourned until 10 AM Monday.

There is no CR. Where are you getting that from?

Government is shut down tomorrow

What does that mean in terms of the work, day?

Yes, they are proposing a CR be voted on at 12 Noon tomorrow which will fund until February 8th.

Tomorrow, the government is officially shut down. Follow your guidance, which is probably to come in to wrap up or to work if your agency has funding. Then we'll see what happens at noon.

Flake took the floor to signal he would support that. Schumer did not make any additional comments.

So if we wrap up as instructed and they vote at noon do we stay and work 4 hours just in case or do we have to head home or kill time near work and then commute back for the afternoon? This is my first shutdown, obviously....

Same thing that they were going to vote on tonight at 1 am. All they're saying now is they picked up 2 extra votes - Flake and someone else; Schumer still objecting bc he doesn't think it's enough of a promise to negotiate DACA. So doesn't that just get us up to 52 votes to reopen via CR?? It's not like it's looking good if they need 8 more. I imagine that's why they didn't vote tonight -- but what changes in 14 hrs?

So, we keep the lights on for 3 weeks-oh, goody. Then we're right back where we started

Yeah but isn't that just 1 extra vote? So were up to 51 when we need 60 to re open?

Schumer is going to hold out for what he really wants---a DACA bill passed. Question: will Red State Dems cooperate?
Anonymous
I think even if they vote for the Feb 8 CR at 12noon tomorrow, tomorrow is a wash for the average Fed worker. I would bet (follow your guidance, though!) that in that scenario, normal re-opening of tasks and offices would happen Tuesday. Basically undo what was done this weekend/tomorrow morning.

McConnell said he is willing to take up any immigration, border security or disaster relief legislation after the 8th if a CR passed.

It looks like Schumer is letting things stew overnight.
