So...what kind of ovulation test?

Anonymous
I have gotten pregnant TWICE before with little to no trying. This third time around is proving to be a bit trickier...it has been 4 months (granted, I REALLY was not paying attention for two of them) and no dice.

What do you recommend? I see them in CVS....are they good enough? I thought I was following a 28 day cycle...but I don't know anymore.

TIA!

I used the cvs brand one cycle. I never got a clear positive, but I can't say whether that was due to the test or if I did something wrong. One warning - the CVS test says to hold it for 4 (FOUR!) hours. I wasn't able to make it that long a couple of times. Maybe that is why my results were unclear?

I tried the disposable ones and didn't get much information. Then tried Clearblue Easy fertility monitor and finally discovered I wasn't ovulating. Quite helpful to know!

The clear blue easy digital ones are really helpful. No squinting at the lines.

I can't do ovulation tests because I can't do the whole "limit fluids & hold urine for several hours" before testing, right smack in the middle of the day. I've tried, but I just cannot do it. I spend the whole morning counting down the time until I can finally pee. It makes for a miserable 5 or 6 days or so.

Have you tried temperature charting? It's really easy once you get the hang of it. I find it much easier than ovulation tests.

If you do use ovulation tests, I'd recommend the digitals. They're more expensive, but the ones with the lines are such a pain to decipher. Is it as dark as the control line? Almost? Not quite? Maybe tomorrow? Or maybe my urine wasn't quite as concentrated as yesterday's? They're just really annoying to use.

Clear blue easy!

Don't bother with any ovulation test other than the Clear Blue Easy - google something like "Review Ovulation tests" and you will see that in general they get horrible results.

I had purchased the "Answer" brand this last month b/c I was too lazy to temp each morning and they were cheaper than Clear Blue Easy - I should have just flushed $20 down the toilet and had the same results. I never got a +.

I really like the Clear Blue Easy fertility monitor. Yes, its expensive but it seems to give me the most accurate results and requests your first morning's urine so it makes testing easy. Just pee when you wake up!

agree on clear blue easy but the digital kind (with smiley face) and do them twice a day -- morning and night -- when you're getting close. i know they've worked for a lot of people. good luck!
