Do hospitals and airports close?

I came in even though we are closed. A full day to catch up on work without interruptions! Of course, here I am, on DCUM...

My office never closes for MLK Jr. Day.

We don't get another holiday until Memorial day. After that, 4th of July. We only observe the big federal holidays.

Same. Large multinational corporation so they only give the big national holidays off in each country.

I should add that I also worked Christmas, thanksgiving and New Year's Eve and day.

My office is open but I had to take a vacation day since daycare is closed (tied to DCPS). DH's office is also open and it was my turn to stay home (he covered sick and snow days in the last two weeks).

That said, I have been online all morning putting out fires at work. Had to resort to a movie to keep my kid occupied for a bit so I can work.

my husband is at a government facility today (he's a contractor)

Technically, he is supposed to be off, BUT someone in the field has a big project this week and it is a rush job. He'll probably take a different day off this week.
