Trying to figure out how much time I may ha e if needed; hopefully not. Also, anyone had experience going through appeal processs? We u successful or not? Did they give u more insight as to why if denied level IV? TIA

May, you get a form that comes with a decision letter

No explanation provided as to why

The appeal packet is in the spring. And then the decision is during summer (August).

Are you planning on getting a WISC? If so, where?

I worry about an inexperienced grad student at GMU getting it wrong...

I would think the other way around. They're not too experienced and therefore not too high standard to take and interpret certain verbal answers

No need to worry about that. The graduate students are very good, and closely supervised by a PhD.

If your child does not get in and you don’t appeal, can you at least get compacted math at the base? To clarify, our base is a local level IV.

Somebody posted on here about how they were told to trash the GMU report by another psychologist Bc it was so horribly off...

You have to test in to that. They will test your child at the beginning of the school year and then send a letter.

I bet some parents who really want their kid in compacted math can talk to their principal who can ultimately pupil place since the school is a local level IV. Even if they don’t test in.

How involved is the appeal packet in the spring?

It's as involved as you want to make it. You basically have the opportunity to submit information they don't already have. Most people send in new test scores (like WISC), but you can also appeal with just additional work samples, letters of recommendations, etc. What they don't want is you sending in duplicative information. It needs to be new information of some kind.

We appealed last year (2nd grade) but were unsuccessful. There is no reason given as to why; you just get another letter saying that your child is ineligible. As I recall, the appeal was due in early May and the decision came out mid-June.
