Best Greek islands for families

Anonymous
Going to Greece this summer with family. Kids ages will range from 2-14. I have been to Santorini and Corfu. I have heard Mykonos is more of a party island. What is a good island that is more family friendly (ie laid back) and possibly central enough to other islands for a day trip or two.

Naxos is wonderful for families. And just wonderful, period.

My parents took my brother and I on a 3 week adventure to many of the islands and sites on the mainland. My brother and I loved Crete, Cos, Zakynthos, Rhodes, and the Meteoras.

+1

We stayed in Agios Prokopios, walking distance to the beach and restaurants. The hotel had a nice pool and had tons of pool/beach toys for kids to play with.

Tinos was awesome, very chill island. On one end was a zero point entry beach that would be awesome for little kids.

A second for Naxos...my favorite island, and it still manages to feel far less touristy than most of the others.
Keep in mind that there also tends to be a lot of toplessness in Naxos beaches if you're concerned about such things.

We went to Santorini as a family when I was 8 and my sister was 6. We had a great time.

Which hotel do you recommend to stay?We are debating between Naxos and Paros?

Entirely depends on what you're looking for...close to town, or more remote.

Crete—nice beaches, but still a lot of culture and history to explore

We enjoyed Kefalonia. But it is not typical. Maybe that’s why we liked it.

Crete, but please not in the height of summer. I went there as a child and thought I was going to faint from the heat at the Minotaur ruins.

Any other time, and it's INCREDIBLE. Culture and history and archeology. My son would love it! He would also love Corfu, just because he really enjoyed My Family and Other Animals, by Gerald Durrell. Have your kids read it before they go!
