Our ASD child is 8 and has problems with reading comprehension and with written expression. We would like to get him tutoring but first want to get testing to establish his baseline and to identify how much of a deficit he has. His school does not provide these services, and has not been helpful in identifying either tutors or testing he could benefit from.
Does anyone have advice on where our child can get testing, and what tests should be offered? Thanks. |

We used a speech therapist to evaluate reading comprehension. Tests administered included:
Expressive one-word picture vocabulary test Test of Language Competence Clinical Evaluation of Language Fundamentals (the understanding paragraphs subtest) Phonological Awareness Test (he had a previous diagnosis of dyslexia, so we wanted to know what role that was playing -- answer, none to little) Woodcock Johnson Reading Battery Gray Oral Reading Test (there's also a Gray Silent Reading Test -- I don't know when one is used over the other) |
