How long do you have to wait after D&C to have unprotected sex?

Perhaps this falls into TMI territory, but... after IVF miscarriage followed by D&C, one silver lining I can see is being able to have unprotected sex after months of being told I need to use barrier protection during IVF cycles and/or using suppositories that make sex wholly unappealing. That said, I've read the risk of infection post D&C is high and I feel like there are conflicting timelines out there as to how long to wait. Anyone have advice?

I think I waited two weeks. I was super emotional and not interested week one. Read that some people had increased fertility after D and C and Shady Grove wanted me to wait two cycles before trying again, so I figured we were on our own that cycle anyway. Did not work for us that cycle or the next but I think I only waited two weeks.

I was cleared at two weeks. I got pregnant four weeks after that.

My doctor said a week, but I waited until seeing her at my two week appt just to be safe.

Can I ask if the D&C was after a miscarriage? Because if so, wow, I am hopeful for a chance to try naturally this month!

Yes, it was after a miscarriage. I have found from talking to friends that this is a kind of common pattern - it’s almost like the first pregnancy primes the pump, and the second time the body says “oh, now I know what I’m supposed to do”. People don’t openly talk about miscarriage a lot -:it’s only when I had complications did I hear from all kinds of people sharing their experiences.
