| 99 Camry with about 400K Miles, needs a new catalytic converters. Otherwise runs great! |
| I'd rent a car. |
| I wouldnt take that junk car to the corner store. Are you poor? |
|
Seriously?
Sure, take it. But have a plan for what you’ll do if you find yourself broken down in some random town. My parents took os on a road trip in our jalopy station wagon. We had to stay 3-4 nights in some podunk town while they waited on parts to arrive. It was interesting. A dusty old town in Arizona. I’ll never forget it. We ate Wendy’s morning, noon and night. It was the only thing around the Motel 6 we had to stay at across from the mechanic shop. Have a fun trip! |
| No. But bravo for getting it to 400k. |
Yes, I am thank you. And it goes to the grocery store very well.
|
| Not a long road trip. I have a slightly younger car with much fewer miles and I don't take it on road trips. |
| Get the car fixed and yes. We have a 98 and it runs far better than my car which is newer. We'll get rid of mine soon and keep the 98. |

My BIL has that kind of car. It's about that old. We drove it on a road trip once and the engine was blocked at half the regular highway speed - very frustrating. Due to pollution laws in his country (France), he's not allowed to drive it anymore now. The rest of the family is very thankful. Unless he drives his motorcycle again. In Paris motorcycles are very dangerous - they zip left and right at high speeds. |
| Road trip thru civilization or on the loneliest road in America across Nevada? |
| If on the east coast and with AAA I would. |
| When was the transmission replaced? |
| Hell no! |
No transmission. One gear only. No reverse. |
| You're asking the wrong people. Post it in Fairfax Underground and you might get a different answer. |
