first parent/teacher conference day Dec. 7?

I was just looking at the dcps school calendar to see when the first parent/teacher conference day would be held. The first date I saw was December 7. Is this right? I seem to remember a conference day in October in years past.

That is really weird. the list of dates sent home from my child's school has PT conference #1 on October 7. But on the official final DCPS calendar it does appear that they have decreased conference days to 3/yr.

pp here- i dug around a bit on the DCPS website and this is what I found:
"- Three parent-teacher conference days have been moved to Monday (in December, March, and May from noon until 7 pm). The fourth, previously scheduled in October, has been shifted to Back-to-School Night; these nights are scheduled by individual schools, and take place during late September and early October."

i guess you should check with your individual school.

From that excerpt, they seem to have substituted "back to school night" for the first conference. Several years ago, conferences coincided with report card issuance. Three/year since there was no conference with the last report card. Then, DCPS moved conferences to take place mid quarter. This resulted in four yearly conferences instead of three. Maybe they felt that was too many. Still seems like 12/7 is too long to wait for the first.
