MFM Recommendations for those with immune issues

Anonymous
Dr. Hammersley has been recommended as a wonderful MFM in the area but Rockville is not an easy place to travel to for me. Do you recommend anyone else in DC? I have immune issues and would like to see someone who understand the treatment I am under (synthroid, prednisone, intralipids, and neupogen). Thank you!

Which reproductive immunologist are you working with? They may have a recommendation of people they worked with in the past.

Dr. H was not too far from where I live but was an additional 15-20 minutes if I was leaving from work, which made it 45-50 minutes to get to her office. I still did it because she's awesome and because I set up my appointments on my telework day so that made it more convenient.

Oh she’s so worth it though. I know I know - not a helpful answer.

Yeah she’s worth it.

Thanks everyone! With so many people recommending her, I might just bite the bullet and work with her despite 40 min trip (one way).

PP here. FWIW, we live in Rockville so Dr. H is close, but my wife's OB was at WHC and every OB appointment took about that amount of time to get there. It was worth it, though, because it was a high risk pregnancy in which she worked with an RI to get pregnant, and her OB was very understanding of that. The same OB was on the floor the night DW delivered - so worth it.

Good to hear! WHC is much closer to us - would you mind sharing the name of the OB? Thank you.

She really is great, and if you see her first thing in the morning, you shouldn't have to wait too long. It was a 25 minute trip for me. I found that my regular OB didn't believe in immune issues so it was a relief to see Dr. Hamersley. Be aware though that she does not deliver. You will still need to see a regular OB or separate MFM who does deliver. Given how far away you are, that might be better.
