Dh and I are considering a move to nyc. Public education and a close walk to the elementary school are very important as is living downtown (we were thinking Chelsea, Greenwich village soho or union square in that order)
From what I found online you are very likely but not guaranteed to get your in boundary school. Plus it seems that the date to apply is January. If we moved it would be this summer. We have 2 elementary age and one preschool age, so I am concerned about them getting in. Looking for advice on which schools to look at and any other advice or opinions. We prefer to buy but may consider renting at first. Ideally we'd want a 3 bedroom 2.5 bath less than $3.5M but we could go up if we needed or work with a 2 bath. |
Are you absolutely, positively locked into living in New York City? Jersey City has its own subway to Manhattan. P.S. 16 in Jersey City is good, and living there might be so much cheaper than living in a comparable place in Manhattan that you could use the money you save to send your child to private school, if you end up disliking P.S. 16. If you really want to live in NYC, proper, and have a great elementary school, you might be better off living in the P.S. 321 zone in the Park Slope neighborhood, in Brooklyn. Also: the NYC equivalent of DCUM is this site: http://www.urbanbaby.com/ Try asking your question there. |
