| I’m thinking of introducing my 2 year olds to air travel this year and want to start by going to a major city. What are some of the best large cities to take toddlers? My focus would be on amentities, safety, convenience, and activities for that age group. I heard Atlanta is good and maybe Miami. Any other suggestions? Thanks. |
Where do you want to go? Two year olds can find joy in a puddle. I would go where you wanted to go and the two year old won't remember anything so it is pointless to plan a trip around someone that young. ( Unless going to Disney but, even two is too young for that) |

I love travel, and TBH that sounds like a nightmare.
Public transportation, car seats, strollers, naps... We live near DC (I assume you do too?!) and we have dozens of museums, parks, activity centers, etc. to keep toddlers busy. My kids are older now but thinking back, they liked to do stuff like play in sand and simple things like that. At that age, we really just did want they were interested in. They will want to explore and won’t care whether that’s in Atlanta or Washington DC. |
| Don't roll your eyes but take your child to Disney World. You don't even need park tickets. For example, Animal Kingdom Lodge has giraffes etc to look at, daily children's activities (complete all the challenges and get a bead necklace), and a great pool. You can also hop to other resorts and try a character meal and ride on the monorail or boat. |
Mini golf, the train at Disney Springs, T-Rex Cafe if he likes dinosaurs, playing on the beach at the Beach Club, ice cream at Ample Hills creamery, walking along the jogging paths, campfire sing along at fort wilderness, pony rides. I could GO ON and ON. |
| We had lots of fun with our 2 year old in Seattle |
| San Diego, if you can stomach the long flight to get there..... |

Are there really cities known for their toddler amenities?
My toddler loves Baltimore, but I imagine it's similar to most cities in that it has a children's museum and general things to walk around and climb on. |
| Toronto- sooo mch to do. Miami was pretty bad- lots of driving, hard to find parking. San Francisco and NYC are great too- walkable and lots to do. |

We've taken DD to Chicago and San Diego. She's not two yet but I can see fun things to do with toddlers in both places. Chicago has the aquarium, a boat ride on the river, a river walk and Millenium Park. It's really walkable if you stay downtown. We stayed in river north and walked everywhere.
In San Diego, there's Balboa Park, the zoo and the beach. You'll need a car but the distances aren't far. It's a long flight though. You may want to stick to a shorter flight for your first trip. |
| Rochester NY is not all that exciting but it's a quick flight, hotels are cheaper than in other cities, and the Strong Museum is outstanding. |
| My 3 year old (so older than 2...) loved Boston, especially the Children's Museum and Boston Common. |
I love in Southern California and San Diego is very family friendly- beaches, lego land, the zoo and Sea World- if u are into that sort of thing. However, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Boston. My grandparents lived there and we visited all the time in my childhood and there are so many things for young children. It’s a wonderful city. |
| Chicago is great. St. Louis is too, since it has a lot of free stuff in Forest Park including a fantastic free zoo that beats DC's all hollow. |
I agree. Take them places locally. There are no good large cities to take toddlers to. |
