Where to eat in Williamsburg?

Have any favorite places to eat in Williamsburg?? We are planning on eating in a tavern, and maybe Rick's Cheesesteaks.. that's about it so far.

The food in the taverns is not good.
Cheese Shop.
A Hot Holly at Pauls.
Second Street
Fat Canary
One of the cheesy waffle places.

Cheese Shoppe for sure - bread ends in their house dressing, yum.

I always liked The Trellis. Admittedly I haven't eaten there in over 10 years, so can't attest to current quality.

OP here, I definitely don't expect fantastic meals. Atmosphere is probably most important and not too pricey. I have had the bread ends but that was in 2004 so I bet a lot has changed since then!

Cheesy waffle??

Williamsburg has a lot of waffle restaurants and pancake houses. There’s isn’t a specific Waffle House . They are being referred to collectively as cheesy.

Can confirm that the Trellis is still very tasty. Just went in November. It's close to the historic area, so great place to go after a day of sightseeing.
Will also join the many others voting for Cheese Shop!

We really enjoyed Food for Thought. Ate there more than once on our last trip.

Also liked Sal's by Victor, Cheese Shop, and The Trellis.

Agree with these. Sal's is excellent and we really liked Astronomical Pancake House, though the Southern Pancake and Waffle House was even better. Shorty's Diner is great for breakfast as well.

Our hands-down fave for lunch and dinner is Food For Thought.
