I an in desperate need of a sling for my 6 week old daughter. Can someone recommend one they really like and that is easy to use? I was thinking maybe the Boppy sling or maybe Balboa baby sling... but am totally open. I would love to use whilst breastfeeding- is this possible? I want to make a trip to Babies R us soon and this is what they have online:

| Someone gave me the HOTSLINGS sling and I love it. It is VERY easy to use because it is just one tube that you fold and then place the baby in it. You have to get the one that is the right size for you, and I watched the DVD that came with it to make sure I did the fold right, but really just looking at the instructional card that comes with it was enough. My daughter LOVED this sling from 2 weeks on...She didn't really like taking a walk in the stroller to begin with but LOVED that sling. She would fall right to sleep as soon as I walked out the door with her in it. Give it a try. |
| Mobys and hotslings are usually highly recommended. I would recommend looking for a youtube video on using the various slings you want to make sure you are comfortable using. |

I love these slings and carriers http://www.becobabycarrier.com/
much prefer http://www.rockinbabysling.com/ to the hotsling http://www.babyhawk.com/ http://www.newnativeinc.com |

I heard the Moby wrap is good for breastfeeding.
But beware -- every baby is different and it's totally a hit or miss with trying out the various slings for your baby. |

I have three children and have tried and owned many slings. My hands down favorite is the Zolo sling. I have the black silk with asian print.

| try the breastfeeding center downtown. they will let you try them on. i like the moby but i never figured out how to bf in it |
| I second the breastfeeding center of greater washington on K St. They let you try them all on and also sell them. |
I am reading this thread with great interest because I am due in 5 weeks. I did a carrier with DC1 but not a sling, which is what I want this time. Can you please explain more about why you like the zolo sling so much. I must say that the patterns are super cute! Also, the website says you can nurse while wearing it? True? |
| Hotslings are very easy to use. Maya wraps are also easy, and adjustable. We loved our sling (homemade but same design as a hotsling) and also loved our Moby (took longer to put on, but very comfy) -- but I never managed to breastfeed in either of them. I didn't try terribly hard, to be honest. Maybe next time I'll try the class on it at the BF Center. |

I second the hotsling. It's versatile, can last from newborn through two (though you might need a tighter fit for a newborn for a cradle hold and a one size up for a hip carry in an older child) and folds into a small package that easily fits into a baby bag. The company is also great to order from.
Course, I also own a mai tai (from Kozy Carrier), an ergo, and a baby bjorn. They're all good for diifferent ages, for different things. Can't have too many carriers IMO. YMMV. GL! |

Different perspective -- I never found a sling I liked though I was so into the concept. Part of it, I think, is that I had a very big baby, and so he was too big to get into the newborn positions but didn't have head control for the older baby positions.
I used the Bjorn a little bit and then switched to the Ergo, which i LOVE. |
| Does anyone have any info on the boppy sling? I hesitate to get a sling like the moby- it looks like a piece of fabric that I have to manipulate- I would rather have one with a strap, etc. |
| Maya Wrap worked great for us and adjusted as our baby - now 15 m - grew. |
| I have both the moby and the hotsling and like them both. The moby is MUCH more comfortable once you get the hang of wrapping it, which really is not that hard. The hotsling is super convenient but a newborn only has one position in it and my newborn does better upright, so the moby works for us usually. I enjoy having both and keep them in my car so we can decide what baby is in the mood for. my baby is only 6 weeks old so we have not yet figured out how to BF in it, but I REALLY want to learn because I'm still shy / nervous about BFing in public even with the bebe au lait. Seems like it would be much easier to BF in a sling. Has anyone done the class on K street on it? I never took any BF classes because it came really easily to us, but maybe it's worth a try to see about BFing in a sling. |
