How much weight can I lose in 21 weeks?

Anonymous
I'm fat, 5ft 7in and 195 lbs, female.

No exercise currently. I need to lose weight by May. I will start exercising and I can exercise 5 days a week. How much can I lose?

OP Again. I'm 42 years old.

Exercise doesn't usually help with weight loss. Gotta focus on diet first.

OP here, I agree. But it can't hurt.

What kind of exercise are you planning on doing?

I have a full gym at home. I will probably do the rowing machine or treadmill.

Unless you are not tracking calories. If you exercise and don't track calories you might end up
Eating more because you feel hungrier and/or because you feel you deserve "a treat" for working out. This happens all the time.

I notice not one person actually answered the question for OP.
OP, I estimate 42- 50 lbs.

Healthfully, sustainable, and without affecting your skin too much? About 21 lbs.

Quickly, more susceptible to regaining, and having loose skin? Double that.

Try weight watchers. You'll probably lose up to 10 lbs the first few weeks/month and then 1-2 lbs. a week after. In 21 weeks, you could lose at least 40-50 lbs. (if you track your food). I lost 25 lbs with ww in 2 months and kept it off for 3 years -until I had kids.

You could easily lose 20 pounds. Probably 40 is reasonable if you pay attention to nutrition and occasionally work out.

+1

I'd guess the lower end if you just focus on exercise alone and probably closer to the higher end if focus on diet + exercise.

As others have said, Weight Watchers would be good. That would help you keep the weight off.

If you have access to a full gym in your building/home and don't use it right now, that suggests that you need the accountability and motivation.
