Kid friendly Old Town Alexandria restaurants

Anonymous
I'm looking for some low key restaurants for lunch and dinner in Old Town. Any suggestions??

Also, any restaurants you can suggest near the Smithsonian area?

Pizzeria Paradiso, Hard Times, Redrocks, Chadwicks, Hen Quarter, and I'll probably get flamed, but we take our kid to Murphy's Pub.

Smithsoniam area is a broad term.

I wasn’t aware that five of those still existed.

Hard Times Chili Café on King street is very kid friendly especially if you sit upstairs during a slow time. You can add a hot dog to your meal for 1.50 or they have a kids menu. Very fun!

Yeah, there's pretty slim pickins near the Smithsonian museums on the mall (which is what I assume you mean). Go to Old Ebbitt if you're off the mall and check out the White House / Renwick. Go to Pi Pizzeria if you hit the American Art Gallery / Portrait Gallery and Spy Museum.

If you're on the mall, American Indian museum has the best food, but it's expensive and the museum isn't great.

Hen Quarter
Columbia Firehouse
Myron Mixon's BBQ

OP here. Thanks.. We haven't completely solidified our plans yet about which museums to hit. Whenever I've taken my kids down, we eat at the food trucks but those are hit or miss to say the least.

I like the food at the American Indian museum and the African American museum. A little pricey for cafeteria food but really good. We also like the Hamilton or Old Ebbitt for dinner near the Metro Center area of the Mall. Both are big, noisy and kid friendly. If you end up going to the Capitol, I like We the Pizza and Good Stuff Burgers. Both are fast casual places and right next door to each other. I take visitors there often.

Teaism on 8th isn't far from the mall, if you are at Natural History. Not much near American History.

Add in Faccia Luna, Bugsy's and Los Cuates, too, plus the 3 I've bolded. If you want super casual and fast then there are Five Guys or Nandos. All are great with kids.

What? Do you even know anything about Old Town. All well known.

Near the metro is Table Talk. Simple diner food but very noisy and kid friendly.
