Anyone else looking to quit sugar, after the New Year?

Anonymous
I have a major sweet tooth, and was looking to cleanse myself of all the crap I've been eating. But still eat nutritious carbs, fruit, etc. Anyone interested in doing this for however long you can - a day, a week, a month, etc?

Yes and alcohol

Are you going cold turkey off the crap? I have a sweet tooth, too. I think I'd have to taper off or my body might go into shock!

I'm trying not to purchase anything new, and eat down the stuff on hand, or stuff with sugar added. But after NYE I'm going cold turkey. Not cutting out fruit and thus absolutely not low carb, but much more whole food. Please join me! Anyone! I need company in my struggle, and won't get it elsewhere!

Perhaps start a new thread after the new year and check in every day.

Ok! I'm in! Start a new new thread New Year's day and hopefully we'll get some company/support.

I did it for 30 days at the beginning of 2017. I was addicted to sugar, and had a rough few weeks, but worked through it.

By the end of the month, I had lost 20 pounds, and had broken the sugar addiction.

It's almost a year later. I have added back in the occasional treat with sugar - a few cookies, maybe a slice of cake or bowl of ice cream - but am generally eating about 1,000 times more healthy - fruits, vegetables, and lean protein. I have lost 55 pounds.

You can do it OP.

I did it last year for a month or so after New Years and it helped me get the rest of my baby weight off. I cut back drinking this October, like no more habitual wine at home, ever. Well, my sweet tooth has been out of control since then. I will be enjoying the holidays and then tackling another no sugar January!

Holy crap that is awesome! Congratulations!

In that first month, were you cutting calories and doing other diet things, or just cutting processed sugar?

Don’t wait. Start tomorrow. No cookies, candy, ice cream. Eat delicious fruits, vegetables, nuts, and meat. No more junk food.

I've had to cut out both alcohol and sugar for health reasons. I don't really miss the sugar...once I stopped eating sweets I really didn't want them anymore. I do miss WINE.

What a great idea! I might start even sooner - well, ok. After the 1st. Or I mean, after we return from our family holiday. Thank you so much for the encouragement OP - just what i need! It's really starting to take it's toll on me - I need a break! Good luck!

Nope. That would be setting myself up for failure.
