The current strain seems very mild. 1000s of kids at Notre Dame tested positive, none of them even showed symptoms, did they?

There are multiple strains. And 18, 19, and 20 year olds are in a different physical place than overweight 70 year olds.

The death rate seems basically non-existent lately, too.

Wrong again.

+1 just checked the worldometer. 920 people listed as dead yesterday alone. That's not the 2k we were seeing at one point in the outbreak but it's not "good" or "basically non-existent" by a longshot. That's almost 30k Americans per month dying of it. That's bad.

Trump has not only wished ill will, he’s responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths of Americans. Why is he the sympathetic one? He should have worn a damn mask.

Nancy wears a mask

Folks, they are masks. Not forcefields! Masks are not 100% effective...especially not with close, extended, indoor contact.

No sh*t, Sherlock. That wasn’t the point. Nothing is 100%.

+1 wearing a seatbelt doesn't guarantee you will survive a bad car crash, but we do it because it reduces the risk of dying.

Some people are really dumb. Darwin Award will be handed out soon.

Is this a good time for us as a nation to inform the Baby Boom generation they are not as young as they think they are. Perhaps 70 should be the cutoff age for holding political office.

Only death will stop them from running, but in the meantime, we've all been reminded of the importance of the VPs, who will debate next week. At the very least, the VP debate will be much more civil.

It’ll probably be cancelled. For continuity of governance reasons they can’t be in the same room together.

Interesting, but why? Why can't Harris and Pence be in the same room together? Harris is a US Senator. Pence is next in line. If Harris is negative for covid19, why can't she be in the same room as Pence?

I'd think they'd have a lot of ventilation/air filtration in the debate room also.

Because with POTUS ill with a deadly virus at his age and with his comorbidities there’s a 50/50 chance he could die in the next month.

Pence can’t be exposed to anyone who could possibly infect him including outside campaign aides or a sitting U.S. Senator in a debate.

The risk is too high.

Look, I agree, that VP needs to take extreme precautions for the next week. But's not really 50/50. With his age, its probably more like 10/90. Throw in his fat slob of a body and its probably 20/80.

But definitely not 50/50

It’s obvious Trump blew it and this is just the icing on the cake and there is no need to crow. And dem that does crow needs to be slapped down by Biden.

I won't take advice from anyone using the word Dem.

What a pig.

Any chance someone in that room was asymptomatic positive?

Trump knew he’d been exposed. Sure there could be other people who were positive, but if they were asymptomatic they’re not necessarily willingly exposing others. Though, being at indoor fundraisers in a pandemic and all .... Darwin.

It’s disgraceful that Trump didn’t cancel.

Not to mention, sent that blonde spokeswoman out to yell at the press.....knowing what he knew.

Of course, he did, because that's how people in leadership conduct themselves. However I am not running for president, and I will continue to point out that Trump now has the virus he thumbed his nose at, mocked people for wanting tot take precautions, and acted like people dying and losing their loved ones to the virus was no big deal.

Are you saying that Pence should be locked in a basement until the pandemic is over or at least until Biden takes office in January?

Oh. You don’t wanna ride with Biden, but you wanna hide now? Heee hee. It’s fine. C’mon. Just be nice.
