Samana in the Dominican Republic

Anyone been and can recommend a resort? We are family of 6, with 4 kids under 7. Looking for a beach with good swimming (calm water) and a resort with suites available. I had been looking at Sublime Samana but the beach appears to be quite rough.

DR doesn't have great beaches. The water can be rough, and the sand looks like dirt.

Try Mexico or the Bahamas if you're looking for short flights and cheaper hotels. Try Jamaica as well.

I went to Samana many years ago and stayed in a mid-range place in Las Terranas and thought the beaches we’re great - not too crowded. At the time there were lots of stray dogs. I didn’t like that part. But Playa Rincon was so gorgeous I still dream about it. Definitely worth the trip.

What are you talking about? DR has great beaches on the Caribbean side.
