Did any Republicans watch the speech?

What did you think?

I did. Im the OP of other thread talking about the pledge/speech being shown.

I have to say, I was basing the entire thread on that one article that I posted. Where the teacher showed the "I Pledge" video. I was confused, thinking that the video was going to be part of what Obama wanted the kids to see. I thought that everything was fine and dandy until the people pledged to be of service to Barrack Obama.

That being said, I dont consider myself a republican or a democrat.

I thought the speech was great and was glad to know that it was just the speech and not the video itself.

Glad to hear your views on this. Don't you think it would have been a good idea to do more research before making baseless accusations? It just adds to the general hysteria about things that are basically not happening at all.

Perhaps...I guess I'm just a silly freakface.

My 5 year old daughter had to watch it. On her first day of Kindergarten. Don't know what her political leanings will be, but her parents are Rs. No, we didn't watch.

I fully believe that the speech that was given today was not the original intended speech. Also think the reading "materials" reflected a political slant so no I didn't watch the watered over speech and no child of mine would have viewed it. Not interested.

It's cool that you were able to watch the speech with an open mind despite your initial predisposition. Or, maybe that shows that the indoctrination worked.

Yes, no speech is ever edited or proofed before it is spoken. And talking to kids about taking responsibility for their education is so far to the left. Aren't the righties pushing for personal responsibility for healthcare? But not education?

yes—hysterical!

Funny...I like to see the funny side of you, every now and then!

I'm a Republican and I LOVED the speech. He is an incredible person. I'm really glad he's our president. I am honored actually. Have I turned into a Democrat. No. Did I vote for him. No. But I do feel proud of our country's leader.

There is no way a republican would appreciate anything Obama has done-you are a democrat or socialist whatever but not a republican. As for speeches being edited..duh of course but there is a difference between editing and creating a whole new speech which most likely happened as a result of the outrage over his attempt to politicize schools. Speaking of schools..nice work in screwing up the voucher program in DC Mr. Obama-I feel bad for those students who are not getting a chance to excel because Obama is so in bed with teacher's unions. Course he got to go to private school so you would think he would have some compassion regarding opportunity

Do I understand this correctly? You want the government to steal your hard-earned money and give it to other people to spend on private educations? Just what kind of commie socialist vegetarian tree hugger are you? Next you will be suggesting that the government take your money and use it to pay for other people's health care.

That's just idiotic. Even many Republicans in Congress have some positive things to say about Obama. You are delusional if you think that every single thing he has done is the opposite of the Republican platform.

Are you so insecure about your positions that you need to shield your child from differing opinions?

You probably don't consider yourself unpatriotic, but you are. Not because you deliberately missed the president's speech or kept your child from seeing it, but because you are of the opinion that you must keep ideas from someone in an attempt to drive their opinion in a direction you want it to. That is not what a true citizen in a democracy does; it's what....drumroll....facists do. So they can control and shape public opinion. Read a newspaper or a history book for context.

And you are modeling bad behavior for your kid.
