| Any recommendation for where to buy a weighted blanket - preferably online. Any experience with - do they help anxious kids sleep ? |

I purchased this one from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MY6OI0L/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Granted, I am an adult woman and based on my research, you are supposed to choose a weigh that corresponds to your size, but I did see plenty of lighter children's blankets on Amazon as well. I have found it to be immensely helpful with my anxiety at bedtime and with helping me fall asleep. |
| NP here - PP, does this help you get to sleep or stay asleep? DD has trouble falling asleep due to anxiety. |
| Etsy has a bunch of listings if you search there as well. Or you can make your own if you can sew a little. Depending on your diagnosis, you might be able to get you physician to write a prescription for it and then order it from a medical supply store. DS does not have trouble sleeping but I did make him a weighted lap pad for school and one for home to help him feel more grounded (the kid just cannot sit still). |
PP here. It helps me fall asleep (and that's what I struggle with too). Honestly because of the way the weights work - it's basically like a spread out bean bag - I end up kicking it off in the night and using my normal blanket, but once I've fallen asleep initially, I'm fine. |
| I don't have an actual weighted blanket, but I've always needed to be under about 10 blankets to fall asleep, and one of them has to be a heavy comforter. I have to feel cozy and like I'm being "held". I love it when my husband throws his arm across me and adds more weight. I'm out immediately when he does that. When I was a kid, I wanted to sleep on the couch, using the back of the couch as a sort of comfort, and then have blankets piled on top of me. My mom gave up trying to get me to sleep in my room. |
