I just realized I had an unopened hug of simply lemonade hidden in the back of the fridge. The date is September 06. I was shocked it had such an early date. We don't normally buy that kind, but I guess it's more like OJ than the Kirkland or natures promise lemonade that is not refrigerated.
I have to toss, right? Maybe it will turn into limoncello if I keep it longer. |
Expiration dates are voluntary and not necessarily reflective of somethings shelf life.
And you aren't going to get sick from drinking bad lemonade - if it tastes normal there is no harming in drinking it. |
Dear OP - if it hasn't been opened, smells and tastes okay, it's 'probably" okay - particularly because it's acidic.
That said, I've been bitten before ... Godspeed. |
just drank some that is a few months expired.
RIP? |
Best before, few days ok Expired, not ok When in doubt through out! |
+1 Yes
When in doubt throw out. |
September 2006? As in the lemonade is twelve years old?
I am no fainting Fanny on these matters and will eat food past the date, but that gives even me pause. |
This question was asked in December...I assume OP has made her decision already. |
And we never heard back! Guess she shouldn’t have drunk the lemonade. RIP, OP! |
Yeah. This helped me to decide not to drink my lemonade. The best by date was September 4. It's now December 28. I just ate some mandarin oranges that expired in October. They tasted bad. So I just ate the one bite. |
There is no date of any kind on my bottle of Kirkland Signature Organic Lemonade. I;ve had it in my 'fridge for a while. There is a long number on the neck: 4630523401905105CA. What does this tell me? Is it safe to drink? |
Yes, absolutely. Now if it was 4630523401905105TX then you should throw it away and only handle it with tongs. |
Y'all...
Assuming your nose isn't Covid-wrecked, you can figure this out for yourselves. Open it. Smell it. Taste it. If it smells/tastes off, trash it. If the container shows signs of damage (bulging, broken seals, popped lids), or if the product looks different than usual (cloudy, off-color), these may also indicate spoilage. But, seriously, we used to get along fine without dates, and the dates don't magically protect your food against spoilage. If it's off, don't eat it, even if it says it's technically not expired yet. If it's "expired" and that's literally the only thing wrong with it, it's probably fine. |
Can’t find an expired date by on the bottle. Where is it located? |
It smeared off in 2017. |
