It's freezing. Are they going to be outside a lot?
Actually, that is the main one. I'm psyched for her, but the weather could be warmer. |
She will be fine, OP! They've done this before in cold weather.
(My kid #2 is scheduled for February.) |
| My kids went when it was freezing. There were some activities they weren't able to do. Otherwise fine. |
| Get the right gear, and they will be fine. It's heated in the cabins. |
|
Wow they do it in Feb?
Sent her in down jacket, fleece boots, wool socks she probably won't wear, gloves she will lose. |
| Would rather do it in the winter! Less likely to get bitten by a tick! |
very true. |
It's 45 degrees. I think she'll be ok. |
|
It could be 15 on Wed morning...
Hopefully, she will have enough fun today at 45 that she will want to put on her wool socks and have fun Wed morning. That is the overall plan. I know it works for most in the Boy Scouts. |
| My oldest went during the polar vortex. They went outside, no one got frost bite or anything. Your child will be fine! |
| Watch for bed bug bites.. |
| My kid went on a cold December day and came home saying she was freezing. Not the school's fault-- ours, for not sending warm enough jacket, etc. I'd suggest overpacking on the cold weather gear. Kid may say they don't want it and it's not cool, but they will have it handy just in case. |
| My son went to outdoor ed late last week when it was cold, and he thoroughly enjoyed himself. Yes, they are outside most of the time, but they're very active. I heard no complaints about the cold whatsoever. |
|
Indeed, it's worse if it's boiling hot and humid because it's harder to keep the kids moving.
Bees, mosquitoes--I'll take winter anytime. My child is slated to go in JANUARY. She's dreading it, but only because her friends are going in another group. |
