Lindamood Bell

We have an 8 yo ASD child and are considering Lindamood Bell for help with reading comprehension. Dos anyone have experience with them, or recommendations for another group?

Don't. Find someone trained in their methods. LMD is exorbitantly expensive.

The pp means the center. The method is very helpful.

How does one find a tutor trained in the methodology? We are looking at it for our 7 yo and will find a way to pay for a center but if there are other options I’m intrigued.

I'd look for an SLP trained in LMB.

You have to find a reading tutor or specialist and ask about their credentials and training. An experienced one probably has worked with a few programs over their career.

LMB worked for my kid. We did not have to go to a center because the school sent their reading specialist to get trained over the summer so she could use it with him in the next fall.

We were lucky. It was several years ago at very good DC charter school. The reading specialist was trained in Wilson and did that with my DC for a year but he made no progress. They decided to train the learning specialist LMB because it was known to be good for my DC’s issue, and they figured it would help future students.

But anyway I do have confidence in LMB and wish it were accessible to more people.

Another high priced scan to separate the poor parents of SN kids from their last cent.

My kid is severely autistic and nonverbal and he can read (thank god) if that is any comfort. It came naturally to him in time.

Lmb has the same evidence base as o-g. The centers are the scam not the method.

It's crazy amazing you had a reading specialist trained in Wilson to begin with.

The centers are a huge scam. But there is a lot of good evidence proving the success of the methodology. All of our schools should have someone to provide services to our kids who needs them and it sucks that they don’t.

Yeah, the lack of evidence based methods at schools is the true scam.

I used with two kids and I did find helpful. It is 100 per hour and the reason it seems insanely expensive is that they will do 3-4 hours at a time and recommend 60-80 hours. Ann Dolin is group to try. They come to house.
