Expectant and Postpartum Moms

I have one month to go and suddenly can no longer sleep. Even with 6 pillows, side-lying, modified back positions... nothing is comfortable and I seem to have insomnia. Does anyone have advice for sleeping during this time? Are the pregnancy pillows/supports worth it?
thank you! |

My doctor was fine with me taking Tylenol PM when it was really bad.
I did like my pregnancy pillow quite a bit, too. |
The snoogle pillow worked ok for me until just now (I'm almost 39 weeks). Also I am sleeping in the guest room since I can get to sleep quicker without worrying about waking up/bumping into my husband. He throws off alot of heat too . That has helped some.

| 37 weeks here and I've added another pillow in between my legs in addition to my boppy full body pillow and it has helped a lot. I can also only sleep if its cool in the room - although most days I wake up a sweaty mess anyways. |

I'm 37 weeks now, and I have the same problem! I've tried all of the above - nothing works. I dread going to sleep (even though I am so tired). The sciatic pains are the worst......if I sleep on my sides, the pain radiates from my bottom all the way down, and if I sleep on my back, my lower back really hurts. It is really painful to even switch positions. Any other suggestions??
Thanks! |

Try sleeping on your back but wedging a pillow near your lower back so you're kind of sleeping on a slant. I've found that I can still breath (yay!) as opposed to being just on my back and it takes the pressure off my lower spine.

38 weeks here; same problem, only I was also waking up with terrible shoulder pain -- lingering for days sometimes -- after putting my now-considerable body weight on my left shoulder all night.
I do 2 things to help: 1. When I inevitably wake up, all sweaty, to pee at 2-ish, I just go to the extra bedroom, which saves DH from my tossing and turning, gives me cool sheets to slide into, and puts me right under an AC vent. If need be, I can then put on the radio and get lulled by the BBC. 2. I've found that placing an additional long pillow in a T shape against my main head pillow takes some pressure off the shoulders. This is, of course, in addition to the body pillow between my legs, the small one to life my feet, and the regular pillow behind me to keep me pointing the right way! Ah, the joys of late pregnancy... |
| I am having the same problems. Instead of my shoulder killing me its usually the hip i'm sleeping on. then i have to switch sides which usually brings a lot of pain with it too (as my belly settles). then just when i'm comfortable and about to drift off to sleep again i realize that i really have to pee. repeat cycle. |
13:07 here - thanks for the suggestions! I'm going to try the pillow under my lower back and the lengthwise pillow at my shoulder. Hoping that will help the back, shoulder, hip, and butt pains!
