Gary Cohn Faked Bad Reception to Hang Up on Trump

Speaking on CNN Wednesday, the Delaware Democrat recalled a recent conversation about tax reform between several administration officials, Cohn among them, and a handful of Democratic senators.

During the meeting, Trump called in from Asia and began talking, Carper said. After listening to the president ramble for far too long, Carper wanted to get back to the matter at hand.

“Fifteen minutes later the president is still talking and I said to Gary — we’re all sitting around this big square table and I said, Gary, why don’t you do this, why don’t you just take your cell phone back and just say ‘Mr. President, you’re brilliant but we’re losing contact and I think we’re gonna lose you now so good-bye.’ And that’s what he did, and he hung up,” Carper said.

CNN’s John Berman asked for clarification. Did Cohn actually pull the old “bad reception” trick and hang up on Trump? “Well, I wouldn’t — I don’t want to throw him under the bus,” Carper said. Then he did exactly that, adding, “But yes.”

Considering how clueless Trump is about anything and how narcissist he is to realize he is rambling, I think Cohn did the right thing. But Trump would be so mad.

I think it was obvious Cohn thinks he's a dummy -- as does Tillerson, McMaster, Sessions and the rest of the cabinet. W Bush was a dummy too.

I'm certain Gary Cohn was the "banker" Alec Baldwin boasted approached him in a NYC restaurant a year ago and said Trump *is* as stupid as Baldwin's SNL skits.

No I was not. I saw some level of disrespect, on occasion, to Obama, which was met by outrage by liberals. Now there is an full-out war to demean Trump, and liberals think it's funny.

Of course, Obama was pretty disrespectful himself, trying to humiliate people who disagreed with him. (The liberal way.) Remember how he put down the SCOTUS during the SOTU, with them all sitting there in the front? Obama could be a nasty SOB when he didn't get his way, only he was more polished.

Yes, the Obama economy is still humming along, though if this disastrous tax bill passes it will put a curb on that.

Some of us care about a lot more things than just the stock market - democratic ideals, civil society, the Constitution, and protection of this country's great natural beauty being just a few of the ones that Trump is hell-bent on destroying.

Naturally, any good thing that happens under Trump you will credit to Obama. Obama's economy was the worst recovery ever....a paltry 2%. Now, thanks to Trump, we have our first 3% growth rate in 10 years. It is in response to pro-business policies.

As far as Democrstic ideals, I've seen it in action - hateful, divisive rhetoric toward anyone who doesn't agree with them, as a start, but also a scheme that put affordable insurance out of reach for the middle class so poor people get it for free....anti-business attitudes that had our growth rate at a tepid 2%.....increased food stamps.....an increase of $9T on the debt.....no, thanks, I'll stick to conservative policies.
