Do you wear underwear with pantyhose?

This term is confusing to me. Do you need to wear underwear with panty hose, or is it essentially 'built-in'? Do pantyhose differ from plain tights in this way, or is it just a synonym and you wear them the same way?

I wear underwear with tights and hose. I think the only difference between the two is the degree of sheerness (tights being less sheer).

Back in the 80s or so, some company offered pantyhose with an underwear-like crotch built in.

Typically I have on spanx with hosiery, but not with tights since I tend to by ones with control. Why on earth pile on the underwear if you don't have to? Certainly not for health reasons.

A lot of them still have cotton in that area. I think it's about half and half, OP. I personally do wear underwear with hose and tights, but a lot of people don't. Like women who don't wear underwear with their yoga pants.
