New Club?

Has anyone heard of Sporting CP Soccer Academy, Washington DC? Saw they won a U9 age group at Bethesda. Could only find a Facebook page. Interested if anyone has seen them or play for them? Are they in any leagues or is it very much like the FCB Escola where it’s only training and tournaments?

Fairly new program but they are a satellite program for the actual academy in Portugal. The technical director will be running the academy and is from Sporting Clube de Portugal. Excited for the authentic training to be offered here.

And they do play in EDP but training is the main focus. I think their 01 team is currently in the Eastern region playoffs

True, but I'm still interested. It sounds like a cool concept, but my kid may be too old or the "wrong" gender.

For the love of cheese, can you post a link or anything concrete? That's just not any real concrete info right there.

Yeah, this name-drop has popped up all over the forum in the last 24 hours.

Love how they have a picture on their FB page of Ronaldo at 12 years old, possible when he played for them? Yeah, like they really need to come to the already-over saturated DC area to the next Ronaldo. sure guys.

When I looked it up, it looked like there were very few kids involved. It also looks like a one-man show. This does not appear to be like the Bayern Munich NJ/Mass academy or the FCBs that are all around the world and sanctioned by the Clubs.

I think it is somebody trying to capitalize on the concept. It doesn't appear to have a dedicated facility even. It sounds like a scam.

On the Sporting site there is no mention of this academy. The only one close to us is in Toronto. How can you not have a website? If you've been in business for at least 1 year that would be the least you could with minimal effort.

My son plays and trains with SPC DC and this is what I know

1. Train 3 days per week (All year around)
2. Play in EDP AND REG 1
3. Is it really Sporting yes they also take players for one week to the SCP academy in Portugal playing against SCP youth team
4. They told me once TD is in place Website will go live
5. I like their concept of all their coaches being trained and overseen by SCP Lisbon TD
6. Also like the fact that they are not one of theses mega clubs with hundreds of kids running through it. Just my preference.
7. Cost is comparable with no hidden extras

Would like to see them build a girls program for my daughter but maybe that will come in time

Just building off the other parent posts
