-- "It's not a bad idea to do the first two years at a community college on the cheap, then transfer to a more prestigious university." (Have fun with that!)
-- Some variation of "undergrad rank/prestige doesn't matter, only grad school matters." ( )
-- Boasting about all the APs their child is in, never mentions the AP exam scores. ( )
-- "Emma is doing research this summer with a university biochemistry department." (Emma is currently taking AP chemistry.) -- The passive aggressive "oh, I've heard that's a good school." |

I don't pay much attention to what other people say about their kids' college choices.
None of the comments you posted would cause me to have any particular reaction. |
| Wow. You sound insufferable. Why do you care so much? |
Seriously. OP, you suck. |
| You need a life. |
|
This would be a more profitable exercise if you could explain WHY the comments quoted are ridiculous. So go ahead, OP. I challenge you. |
| The jealousy and bitterness that OP is expressing is astounding |
1. It's not a bad idea, especially for kids who have financial constraints or who aren't ready to go off to school right away. Don't see anything wrong with the statement at all. 2. Pretty accurate statement. 3. And if they did say the scores, you'd probably be all "OMG Emma got a 4 on the AP Chemistry exam what a loser !!!" 4. I'll take "that didn't happen" for 500 please, Alex. Stop being such a judgmental twit and worry about your own kids. |
|
Op just wants to be told that they win.
Fine, you win OP. Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming. |
| Some schools accept 3's on AP exams. The horror. |

-- "It's not a bad idea to do the first two years at a community college on the cheap, then transfer to a more prestigious university." (Have fun with that!) -Yes, that can work very well. The degree is the degree.
-- Some variation of "undergrad rank/prestige doesn't matter, only grad school matters." ( ) There is a lot of truth to that. And actually, I agree that prestige is the least of the many considerations that go into choosing the right college. -- Boasting about all the APs their child is in, never mentions the AP exam scores. ( ) -Don't know anyone who "boasts" about the number of AP exams, and no one I know reports their kid's scores. -- "Emma is doing research this summer with a university biochemistry department." (Emma is currently taking AP chemistry.) -Good for Emma! -- The passive aggressive "oh, I've heard that's a good school." Not sure what is passive aggressive about that, but I don't care what anyone thinks about my kid's school. |
| You're right, OP. Other parents are just moronic, idiotic braggarts and you're the normal one here. Congrats! |

I saw the guy interviewed and I knew him in graduate school...
One of the guys who was a leader in developing the landing system for the Mars rover started his tertiary education at community college. |
| Not every one has the financial means OP |
I don't know, OP... Even when I disagree with someone, I don't necessarily feel the impulse to "laugh out loud" at them. But then again, I'm not a smug bitch, either. What childhood trauma damaged your thought process, do you think? |
