Whatis the average minimum salary to qualify for fin aid at private schools?

I have a feeling that we fall somewhere in the middle---too much income for aid, but not enough to afford the tuition. Just wondering if private school is an option for us.

I asked this question a couple of weeks ago and no one responded. Hopefully someone will respond today.

It is likely that no one responded becasue no one know for sure. Most of the financial aid applications are processed by Student Service for Financial Aid . They not only look at earning income, but also unearned income and assets. Not even the SSS website provides any guidelines. I think your best bet is to apply and see what happens.

I was so sure we would qualify for aid. Not. I am a sahm. I was told by the school we choose, that no one gets aid unless both parents are working, and then the salaries can be pretty high. Sounded fair to me. I wish they had told me that before I went thru all that paper work and application process. So when my second goes to school, and I go to work, I will re-appply.

There is no average minimum salary to qualify for aid. Financial aid awards are based on your income, debt, number of children in tuition-paying schools, assets (i.e., equity in your home, 401K, etc.), financial aid funds available at each particular school, the number of applicants qualified to receive financial aid at each particular school, etc. Typically it is expected that both parents work / contribute toward tuition, even if divorced or separated. In general, no allowances are made were there is a SAHM or SAHD. Only a couple of schools make allowances if one parent is caring for non-school-aged children, an elderly relative, etc.
