Parking next to car while someone is loading kids

Anonymous
Was just out at a shopping center with our youngest, who is a baby. I was loading her back into the car when someone decided they wanted to park in the empty spot next to us. I already had the door open and you could clearly see the stroller parked near the trunk. This lady seemed intent on parking in the spot so I folded in my door enough to let her pull in, then we back to loading. Next thing I know, she's honking angrily at me. She wants to straighten out her car more? I wouldn't mind but she had such a nasty look on her face. She's the one that parked there!

Needed to vent...

were there other empty spots nearby? I usually park elsewhere in this situation unless the parking lot is packed.

I do hate it thought when people feel the need to have the door fully open just to put the kid in the car and lots of parents are completely clueless that they are blocking an entire spot because their door is fully open. Parents at our daycare did this all the time and it was annoying because there were only a few spot to begin with so taking up 2 to load a kid was ridiculous.

you don't own the parking lot. I hate when people with young kids think the world needs to revolve around them.

This happened to me a few years ago. She honked at me and then when she got out she told me she didn't want to hit me. Well then don't park there! Was it an old lady?

That person was horribly rude.

I make a point of finding another spot, or if there isn't, waiting or parking safely, if I see a parent getting children in or out of a car.

It's not all about you. You were taking up 2 spots, and somehow she's a bitch.

It was an old lady! I have two kids and I don't like to hog spots, but I would have been done in 45 seconds. There were plenty of other spots. She saw me. When I see other parents in the act of loading, I wait or park somewhere else. I mean, I get it, I get annoyed at the people at our preschool who park over the line so they can open the doors of their huge SUVs all the way. I park in the spot next to other kid carrying cars all the time, but if someone is standing there, seriously?

First world problems, our society is decaying as we speak.

Yet, another reason why I park away from people and just get in a few extra steps.
People are just dicks.

She's not taking up two spots permanently. Patience was all that was required and OP would be done buckling and would have shut the doors of her car.

So yes, it's a bitch move to honk when waiting ONE MINUTE will take care of any issues. If you are in that much of a rush, park somewhere else.

Everyone is entitled to a few minutes to get their car loaded up. Wait patiently if you want that spot so bad. Youre fine OP

She should have parked somewhere else or waited until you were done. It’s dangerous and obnoxious to try to pull into a space when there is a person standing there for any reason - loading kids, shopping bags, whatever. Just wait a damn minute people.

Do NOT rush strapping your baby in if there's an idiot honking at you.

The one who dies will be your baby.

And to all the nasty PPs, shut up.

I almost alway do this, though the Stork parking next to the Handicap Plate spot makes it difficult when I’m driving my disabled, elderly parents. I just suck it up, but I do notice some moms (and it’s always the moms) could upgrade their loading routine. You can hand the baby his or her toy AFTER you get your preschooler inside the vehicle. Kid who might dart into traffic takes precedence over fussing infant.

+1

Some people are fast, some are slow. Some have kids, some don't. That's life.
