Took her to see Aladdin last year and I would say it was just OK... maybe a bit young for her.
Looking for more recs for this January. Wicked? Something cool and less mainstream off broadway? |
| Definitely Wicked. My kids also liked School of Rock |
| My family and I loved the blueman group. It's off broadway. |
| Just saw School of Rock last month with girls ages 8, 11, and 14, and they all loved it. |
| Has anyone seen Dear Evan Hansen? |
Would it be appropriate for a 6 year old? |
| Wicked |
| Matilda. Waitress I don't think Dear Evan Hansen is good for 13 yo. |
I saw it and cried my eyes out. It's an intense look at high school and alienation. As for a recommendation - Come From Away is wonderful - my 13 yo loved it. Also, The Play That Goes Wrong is slapstick British farce and good fun. |
| Dear Evan Hansen would be my top pick. An AMAZING show. My teen loved it! Brilliant writing and music. Great show for entire family 12 and up. |
| Matilda is no longer on Broadway, it was replaced by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. |
| I hear Hamilton is good. |

My 15 year old DD is a musical theater fanatic and we see a lot of shows.
Dear Evan Hansen - my teen's favorite - she LOVED this show Wicked - incredible story, singing - especially if she likes the Wizard of Oz Come From Away - pleasantly surprised at how great this show really was! Hamilton - obviously great and my DD loved it - but Dear Evan Hansen really resonated with her Here in DC - we just saw Mean Girls and it was great! The cast, sets, big numbers are fabulous! Highly recommend. All AMAZING shows |
| My 13 year old also loved Come From Away |
