How old was your first DC when...

You started trying to conceive DC 2? And did you feel ready then or just figure you would be? LOL

#1 was 13 months old when we tried (and conceived) #2. We thought we wanted them about two years apart and knew sooner was better than later due to our ages. Also, we knew we wanted another child but I wanted to put pregnancy behind me completely. Figured we would have nine months to get ready -- though we knew you never really are "ready".

After DS1 turned one, we tried and got pregnant that month. They are only 20 months apart. PP said it well, never really ready but dealt w/ it...we dived into that pool and now were are doing laps and enjoying the warm sun and having a great time

DD was four months old, and we figured it may take a few months, but I got pregnant on the very first try. We knew that we wanted them close in age, and really hoped that they would be the best of friends. It was a gamble, but it worked out well for us, and they play really nicely together.

As far as readiness goes, I was as ready as I would ever be.

I wasn't even ready when we started on #2, but my husband was! (He had some valid points.) Anyway, our first was about 18 months old when we started and he was going through a terrible phase where he'd hit me in the face every chance he could get. I couldn't imagine having another one right then, but I figured it was a phase he'd eventually outgrow. Sure enough, it was done two months later and I really COULD have handled two at that point, so I was ready by then (and not pregnant!)

It took us about 7 months to get pg with #2, whereas #1 only took a month. I'm only 6 weeks along now, but I'm definitely ready (and DH was verging on impatient!) Our kids will be nearly 3 years apart, which is about in the middle of the age differences DH and I wanted.

Started trying at 21 months and voila-pregnant again on first try. Should give hope to the older ladies out there since I am now 40--in any event, I needed to wait that 21 months, I felt very ovewhelmed but now..I feel peace in my heart that this is as ready as I will ever be. Also, funny to add that my hubby also was ready waaaaaaaaaaay earlier--he started talking for another when number 1 was six months old.

Started trying when DS was 14 months and got pregnant a month later. My boys are 25 months apart and I'm happy with the spacing though now DS #1 is acting up a lot more b/c of baby. I'm hoping that will pass soon enough...

In the third month of trying and DD is 6 months old. DH and I really want them to be close together, but I guess we don't have complete control over that...

DC #1 was 10 months...took us 3 months to conceive, after conceiving during first month of trying with #1.

Took us 6 months to conceive #1 and oh about 15 minutes to conceive #2. #1 was just under 18 months and I freaked out that we were not ready. I guess we'll have to be, as I'm due in May. Our daughter will be 2 years old is getting excited about being a big sister and having a baby in the house. I'm hoping for the best with the age range between them... and planning for the worst!
Thanks for posting this.. always interesting to hear others' stories...

We needed to go through IVF and are a little older (38 now) DC#1 is 16 months and I am due early May with DC#2 and DC#3! We started when DS was 6 months but it took 3 trials to get pregnant.

If you can wait till your child is 1 at least that would be better for your health - pregnancy takes a toll on your body.

My #1 was 19 months old, making my 2, 2 years and 4 months apart. In retrospect, I'd have waited a bit longer as #1 has some issues, not sure if they are attributable to #2's birth. But age was pushing me to get it done sooner rather than later.

#1 was 9 months old when DC #2 was conceived.

Had a contraception malfunction.

Both my DC were conceived in about 5 minutes.

They are 3 and 18 months now and the first year was hard, but now things are much easier.
