Infertility Support and Discussion
I'm TTC. Discontinued breastfeeding in mid-June. I've had three menstrual cycles since then. I'm on Day 1 of cycle #4. My cycles have been all over the place -- lasting from 24 to 29 days. Pre-pregnancy, I was very regular with 29 day cycles and ovulating consistently on Day 13. Now I have no idea when I'm ovulating as the Fertility Monitor reading does not correlate with EWCM/cervical position. Anyone else know when your cycles normalize after weaning and when full fertility returns? Thanks for any advice.
This is a good resource document from Kelly Mom (online breastfeeding information) on weaning and fertility: http://www.kellymom.com/bf/normal/fertility.html
I have 2 children who I nursed for around 18 months each. For both my cycles were all over the place the 1st 3 months after my PP period returned (note: I had not fully weaned when PP cycles returned - but was down to nursing 2 times a day). I had previously been pretty regular 28-30 days. My 1st 3 cycles w DC #1 were 48, 46, 33 days. For DC #2 they were 47, 42, 31 days - and you thought yours were all over the place
I chart (BBT and CM) and my fertility signs were also all difficult to read . But, I have found that by cycle 3, CM was a lot easier to read as a ovulation predictor and that BBT was a really reliable indicator of ovulation. |
OP here. Thanks for the input!
My cycle was irregular after weaning - I did acupuncture for a few months and that regulated it.
