Salzburg, Austria. Any thoughts?

I have the chance to spend a few days in Salzburg come May, has anyone been and would you recommend it? Any suggestions of what to see and do?

Beautiful small city. It's actually quite small but eminently enjoyable. Castle, several museums, lots of day trips in the area.

I have a always made Salzburg a day trip on Munich Itinerary, you may want to consider the reverse.

If they still do the Spund of Muisc tour, you should definitely take it. Very fun.

I was there in college, and I just remember it being sooo magical. We were there in Winter, we saw a concert, stayed at a little b and b with great breakfast. Loved it.

We go regularly. I like Cafe Fürst. I think the tour of Mozart’s house is worth it, they go over a ton of history and it’s really interesting.

Glorious setting. Take a side trip to Berchtesgaden. Take a boat trip on the lake. Go to the castle. Go see Mozart's home. Wander around. Wander around. Wander around. One of my favorite places.

Yes! The bike tour was so much fun, one of our favorite things we did in Austria.

Also consider a day trip to Hallstatt, which is truly magical.

Love Austria! I think it's the most beautiful country in Europe. We went there for our honeymoon.

GO to the Mozarteum, knock on the door while students are having their lesson with their professor and ask if you can listen to them. These are the best masterclasses ever if you are a music lover ... and it's free.

In season: crowds of tourist and refugees. Huge change from what I remembered from years ago. If you are into touristy stuff then do it, plenty there.

Just outside there is this place but I don't know what it's called--DCUM please help.

It's an estate that has things that move via water pressure (this was created before electricity). So there are little figurines etc. and it's all water driven.

Believe it or not, the tour of the salt mines (where Salzburg gets its name from) is very interesting. The kids (and yes, let's face it, dh and I as well) loved going down the slide.
