Drove by and saw that it was closed for an event. Saw some protestors out on Wisconsin. Couldn't read their signs very well but thought I saw something about Russia. Anyone know what the event was?
Just curious... |
| “Concert for Unity” featuring the Mariinsky Orchestra. |
| Strange that there would be protestors for a Russian orchestra playing with a theme of unity - they certainly the ones who colluded on the election! Thanks for the update - the Cathedral website just said it was closed for an event but didn't say which one. |
As Reagan used to point out, the Russian word "mir" means both peace and world. So when the Russians profess that they want mir, do they really want peace? Or do they want the world? |
| To sell out a place of worship and allow it to be used for Russian propaganda. Sad. |
Didn't like Reagan at the tiime, but in hindsight the Gipper was wiser than I gave him credit for. |
Guess you don't get the whole Jesus "love thy neighbor" stuff like the Cathedral does. |
No propaganda is ever put out by churches, none, never! Insert eye roll |
The Episcopal Archdiocese of Washington is a reliably progressive organization You should refrain from commenting about things of which you don't understand |
Obviously some posters don' appreciate the talent, education , and training that are required for classical performances. Orchestra, opera, ballet. If you can't slop through it in 1 month then don't do it. This thread is ridiculous-The Mariinsky under Gergiev is a world treasure and was also at The Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall. The ballet company was at the Kennedy Center this fall. Russian companies are welcome throughout Europe and Asia. |
"reliably progressive"? Weird. I thought they were a church. |
