Hi, it's DCUM Amy here.
As I've mentioned before, I am willing to spend $$ on skin care and cut back on cosmetics. Right now I;m using MD Forte III cleanser, MD Forte III Rejuvenating Lotion, and Triluma. It's a bundle. I also bought the Kinerase Intensive Treatment C-8 Peptide to use as a moisturizer in the morning. Begoun loves it, and the only reason it is not a "Paula's Pick" is because peptides and kenitin have not been proven to help your skin. However, I think it is helping. It's also 100 bucks for a bottle that will last a little more than a month. What say you?? |

OP - Would love to know your approximate age and skin issues. But in general, I would suggest you go cheap in the facial cleanser - drugstore and use a number of glycolic (I love the MD Forte), retinol (Avene) and coffee bean (Revale) extract (anti-radical) products. Along with a broad-spectrum sunblock. While these products can be somewhat pricey, look at what the department stores sell for much less effective products. Moisturizers easily well over $100 and up to $500. MD Forte, etc. is a bargain.
If you feel the Kinerase is helping, then by all means use it. The Kinerase should last more than a month. Are you using a pea-size amount and warming it between your fingertips before applying? I'm also using the Clarisonic brush to clean. Amaaaazing difference in the skin and it helps all products work better. |

Subbing to this thread... I'm 40 and just started using prescription Retinol + botox between my eyebrows. I previously used a 20% glycolic solution 3x/week + Oil of Olay's Regenerist serum daily.
Any opinions on whether just the Retinol is enough of a plan? I really like one workhorse cream to do it all, but I could incorporate 2-3 creams applied at the same time. |

PP here. I'm 50 and my skin easily looks 10 years younger. Have been using medical grade products for almost 10 years and have flawless skin. I get lots of compliments from other women so I am sticking with this plan! And also saving tons of money by avoiding the cosmetic stuff in the stores.
If you are using prescription Retinol, I'd check with your doctor about other products due to the sensitivity issues. I use a drugstore gel cleanser with my Clarisonic brush. Then MD Forte lotion and eye cream followed by Avene Retrinol. Then, Revale to keep the free radicals at bay, Strivectin Eye Cream (dark circles), Lierac neck and decolette cream and then Anthelios, the mother of all sunblocks. Sounds like alot but it's less that 5 minutes. Retinol works on lines and wrinkles. You also need something that will sweep away the dead skin cells so skin looks luminous and young. As we age, the turnover slows down and we need to speed it up. Check with the doc - you don't want anything too harsh. Then, buy it all at skinstore.com - free shipping, no tax and often less expensive than what the doc will sell you. You also earn loyalty points to use on other purchases. I save a ton. |
