Elementary Immersion Program Class Sizes?

Yes, they are consistent with regular class sizes, maybe 25 kids/class.

My son's class has 21 children in it because there has been some attrition. The only students who can come in at this point need to test in, as fluent in the language.

My daughter's has 26 but there are always two teachers in the classroom.

My DD is in K. Her class has 25 w/ 2 teachers. It's a little on the high side for my preference. Having said that, we know there will be attrition as families move away, and after 2nd grade new students aren't allowed into the program unless they already speak some of the language. So class sizes will be getting smaller as time goes by, which is rather nice to contemplate.

My DD has 15 students in her 1st grade class.

Seems large. We went to kindergarten open house today in Arlington and the max was 22.

I agree that it is a lot, but it is no more than non-Title 1, non-immersion class sizes. So while yes, I think it's a lot, that comment (for me) is not specific to immersion; it is about MCPS class sizes generally.
