giving notice

I am a family daycare provider who has been working with the same children for over a year now. I couldn't ask for a better set of children and I truly love them. DH & I just found out last night that an opportunity has presented itself for us to relocate. However, we will have to immediately jump on this opportunity, meaning I would have to stop care in 3 weeks. As per my contract it states either party is to give two weeks notice to the other. I am thinking of doing so tonight, giving them 3 weeks since care is so hard to find. If you were a parent receiving word...would you appreciate the extra week? I didn't expect this day to come...I thought the kids would advance to Kindergarten before I'd have to stop caring for them

More time would be great I say tell them ASAP so they can began the search. They may ask you to participate sense you know their children well and the type of care they require. Good Luck

Obviously, the more time the better. Three weeks sounds reasonable. Can we reverse this though? How much time would I have to give my nanny if I am switching to daycare, not because the care from the nanny wasn't amazing, but because I think my daughter is at an old enough age and is missing some of the social/ group benefits of day care?

I think the same applies.
