I am planing a VBAC with Dr. Tchabo in Nov. I recently learned from my Bradley instructor, who is also a doula, that he is now on a call schedule (as opposed to delivering most of his babies).
I am going to visit with him at my next appt, but would love to hear your experience if you recently delivered with him (or one of his on call mates), bonus if it was a vbac. I am just nervous bc I specifically picked him for the VBAC and am worried I may end up with someone who is not as supportive as he would be. I have a great doula, so I am feeling good on that front, but would love to hear from someone who has recently delivered with him. Thanks!! |

Just delivered with Tchabo. I was not aware at the time that there was a call schedule, so I was quite surprised when Dr. Bannon answered my initial phone call about going into labor. It was around three in the morning. I don't know who else is on the schedule, but I will say that Bannon was awesome. I was trying for an unmedicated birth, but due to the baby's posterior, the labor was excruciating and dragged on. I had asked that noone bug me about an epi, but when I did see her and we reviewed the situation, I thought she was fantastic.
BTW, I delivered later in the morning, and Tchabo was there when it came time to push. Looking back, I think I would have been fine with Bannon delivering, as well. |

OP, you may want to get in touch with the women in the Northern Virginia chapter of ICAN (if you haven't already). There are several who have had recent experiences with Tchabo's new formalized backup system and can give you their perspective. Depending on whether you like what you hear, they're also a good resource to explore other options in the area.
