Tired of Name Changes/Bad Planning - Vote NO on School Bonds

Anonymous
Voting no on the FCPS school bonds next week will send FCPS a message to stop spending money on school renamings and to only spend money on sensible capital spending projects.

Madison HS should NOT be expanded. West Potomac HS should NOT be expanded.

Agree 100% I am telling all my friends to vote NO.

I always vote "no" on school bonds anyway.

Why vote no on the expansions?

Why is Madison not a sensible project, OP?

* Money should be spent on accelerating the construction of a new high school in western Fairfax, not expanding a school that already has over 2200 students and sits on one of the smallest lots of any high school in FCPS

* Will add to traffic congestion near Maple Avenue and Nutley Street

* Will create pressure to redistrict Marshall students who live in Vienna to Madison, driving up the ESOL/FARMS rates at Marshall and turning it into an "urban high school" for Tysons Corner

It was exactly this mean spirited vote against our interests to prove our point crap that got us Trump. The school bonds have nothing to do with the name change. And if they don’t pass the bonds, they aren’t going to build a Western County school. They are going to stuff more kids in less space in Madison.

Look where not expanding, or not being able to agree on expanding has gotten APS. Two tracks schools? No thanks.

The bond is not for the Western County school. Read it.

So it has an 11% FRL and 5% ESOL population and you’re concerned this will go up — it SHOULD change.

It's not mean-spirited. I am voting against it because it's up for a vote and I don't think their proposed capital spending projects deserve funding. You do understand that it impacts taxpayers when the county incurs more debt.

You have your facts wrong. Marshall is closer to 20% FARMS and that rate would go up if its Vienna neighborhoods get moved to an expanded Madison.

I’m Western County. So well aware. Let’s try again...

It’s not like your choice is Madison expansion or Western County expansion. Your choice is Madison expansion or super crowded Madison.

Is Falls Church High in the bond? I really want to see that school renovated.

For now. Voting down the bond is needed to push FCPS towards building a new school in western Fairfax.

Yes, that school's renovation also ought to take precedence over an addition at Madison.
