I am 41 and for the past year or so, have been getting chronic yeast infections. One of the OBs I have seen suggested that there might be an association with IUD. I have a paragard IUD, and wondering if I should consider having it removed. Has anyone here had chronic yeast infections, and then had them resolve once having their IUD removed?
Yep, I had this happen with the paragard. Got it postpartum and it was fine during the year that I was breastfeeding. When I stopped breastfeeding I started getting recurrent yeast infections. I had the paragraph removed and have not had a yeast infection since (it’s been about 2 years). I’m now using nexplanon (rod in your arm that lasts for 3 years) and I love it!
I have a Mirena iud. It’s been about 1.5 years now. I have had about 3-4 yeast infections in that time, after not having for like 10 years prior. I swear it has something to do with the hormone levels or something with the iud. It’s a pain.
20:37 — interesting. I don’t know what we will use if I have paragard taken out, but I am so done with these infections. I can’t do exogenous hormones bc I just cry all the time. I guess it is time for my husband to get snipped.
