ADHD evaluation- Arlington or nearby

I suspect that my 12 yo son has ADHD. I would like to have him evaluated in Arlington or nearby; we have United Healthcare insurance. Any recommendations? I am absolutely new to the subject, so any advice on getting started would be much appreciated.

I’ve searched the archives for resources but either I’m not entering the right terms or there are just so many posts on the topic that I’m having a hard time narrowing it down.

We have Aetna and used Dr. Hardison on Old Keene Mill Rd. in Springfield.

Do you need someone who will take insurance, or can you afford to go out of network? If the latter, we were very happy with Dr. Kelly Theis at Family First Psychological Services in Tysons. If you need someone who takes your insurance, you might be better off getting the list of participating providers from your insurer and asking if anyone has feedback on those specific people.

We also used Family First and thought they did a good job. A portion of the testing was reimbursed by insurance.

We used another practitioner at Family First for the evaluation and were very happy as well (and have continued with them for related therapy.)
